English to German translations [PRO] General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
English term or phrase:mini-quadrennial events
refers e.g. to the winter Olympics, World Expo, Congressional elections in the US. I know of course of quadrennial events are but what does the "mini" refer to? Is there any difference at all?
Wie schon erwähnt, ist mir klar. dass es sich bei quadrennial events um im Vierjahresturnus stattfindende Veranstaltungen handelt, es ging mir um den Zusatz "mini", der mir ebenfalls völlig unerklärlich ist.
Bitte die Frage in deutscher Sprache stellen und den Text, in dem "mini-quadrennial events" erscheint, und erklärt wird, um was es sich handelt, in der Originalsprache zitieren.

Mein Vorschlag dürfte zu dieser Aufzählung von Ereignissen passen.

Offenbar gibt es in dre deutschen Sprache keine einfache Entsprechung, nur Erklärungsversuche. Deshalb neuer Vorschlag:
«Im Vierjahreszyklus stattfindend, der im englischen Sprachbereich "mini-quadrennial" genannt wird.»
(Dies im Unterschied zum Vierjahreszyklus, der im englischen Sprachbereich "maxi-quadrennial" genannt wird.
