English term or phrase: dialing up
Liebe Kollegen,

ich übersetze gerade ein kleines Textchen zu einem Musikwettbewerb.

Kontext:

September-Oktober
We'll be dialing up the competition during the national finals. Here, if you're one of the the winners in your country, you'll have to show your true potential...

Im Pons finde ich unter "dial-up service" Onlinedienst
Kann es sein, dass sie einfach meinen, dass die nationalen Endausscheidungen online verfolgt werden können?

Grüße
Ursula

Explanation:
To "dial up" heißt hier m.E. einfach: "sie alle anrufen, damit sie herkommen und mitmachen."

-> Bernhard, I see what you mean. While it does have to do with "anrufen", it should not be TRANSLATED as "anrufen" in this context, but more in the sense of "zusammentrommeln", although I do not think that is the right word to use here, either.

Nellis Air Force Base invited the Ferrari Club to bring our exotics to their 2nd Annual Auto Show, Autocross and Shootout featuring a unique opportunity to race an F15 fighter jet. The venue was a huge morale boost for families and Airmen again this year. The car show was a continuous two day event on Saturday, September 29th and Sunday the 30th. This year's organizers extended a special invitation to FCA members to bring their exotics to the Car Show and dial up the competition for 1/2 and 1 mile high speed shootouts for "fastest car" trophies on Sunday September 30th.
