English to German translations [PRO]
Science - Genetics
English term or phrase: either
Blots were hybridized to radiolabeled DNA fragments encompassing **either** nucleotides 984-1340 of the mGL50-2 clone (357 bp; SEQ ID NO:3), corresponding to the 3’ untranslated region, while fragments corresponding to the coding sequence of mGL50 were used to detect both mGL50-1 and mGL50-2 transcripts.

Explanation:
either is used when you have 2 options and you go with one. it cannot mean both.

if it's about a series of nucleotides then i don't know why it says either nucleotides in plural. if it was either nucleotide then i would understand "any nucleotide from the series" "irgendein beliebiges N.".

hi evchen, it's not going to be "either of" but either. i strongly believe that the s at the end of nucleotides is a typo and should be singular.

entweder

Explanation:
