Are there single equilibrium solutions to most fiscal choices? Not many would argue that very likely even within a single political system. What then of the range of fiscal equilibria in different systems—should these be *broadly* similar, overlap slightly, or in an extreme be distinct from each other? Sorting our way through these kinds of questions should help us untangle the strands of similarity and difference that together constitute different modern fiscal situations.
