Ich habe mich für die Variante des Conversations-Lexicons von Macklot, den Oberrichter, entschieden. Das passt auch schön zum Klang des Textes.

Ich würde vorschlagen, es unübersetzt zu lassen, analog zur Wikipedia (die allerdings das neue Amt bezeichnet) und zur Europäischen Kommission (vgl. im zweiten Link unter der Überschrift "Das Amt eines Senator of the College of Justice in Scotland bzw. eines Lord Commissioner of Justiciary"). Vielleicht kannst du Oberrichter dazu in Klammern setzen?

Asker: Ja, das Problem ist nur, der Begriff kommt in einem Roman vor, neben weiteren Ämtern, bei denen ich die deutsche Bezeichnung verwenden möchte, da sich das besser in den Ton des Textes einfügt.
