Explanation:
Ich könnte mir vorstellen, daß hier weniger eine Geiselnahme einzelner Personen als vielmehr die Beschränkung des Bewegungsbereichs einer Menschengruppe (z. B. Dorfbevölkerung) innerhalb eines Gebiets gemeint ist, analog den "menschlichen Schilden" jüngster Kriege. Retention geht ja eher von Beibehaltung denn von Wegnahme aus.
