In einer Richtlinie zur Korruptionsbekämpfung eines weltweit tätigen Unternehmens wird der Begriff "Political Official" wie folgt definiert:
"In addition to government officials, this Policy and some anti-corruption laws also cover ***political officials***, the definition of whom is also bread and includes:
(1) officers, employees or representatives of a political party or political organization;
(2) candidates for election or appointment to public office or their representatives; and
(3) candidates for election or appointment as an officer of a political party or other political organization."

Explanation:
Im wesentlichen geht es doch darum, Korruption auf dem Wege der politischen Einflussnahme zu verhindern/mindern, je einflussreicher die Person, desto gefährdeter, aber auch die "vorbeugende Korruption" bei Kandidaten soll miterfasst werden.
Eigentlich müsste man das ganz umständlich umschreiben, etwa mit
"Personen mit der (gegenwärtigen und/oder zukünftigen) Möglichkeit der politischen Einflussnahme", aber da das je im Folgetext noch definiert wird, reicht vielleicht der obengenannte "Target Term".
