The CESAME Working group has held two meetings in 2004. So far the Commission’s works have mainly progressed on Barrier 3 (corporate actions) and on definitions and **impact assessment** issues related to a possible future directive. A sub-group on definitions has been set up in order to develop an appropriate set of definitions based on the “functional approach”. As for the **impact assessment**, the Commission has made a proposal on the structure of an **impact assessment** of the integration of clearing and settlement in the EU. A third CESAME meeting is scheduled on 7 March. Before this date the ECSAs are called, in line with the Giovannini Report, to submit their recommendations on Barrier 3, corporate actions, Cash dividends. Later on in 2005 the ECSAs are also called to present their recommendations on Barrier 3, corporate actions, Interest Payments and Maturity Redemptions.
