English term or phrase: Oman's Ancient Centrality

This is a heading of a chapter in a biography of Oman's ruler. The chapter deals mostly with the distant past - archaeological remains are mentioned and how Islam came to Oman. I think "centrality" does not refer to the country's central position or role; rather I think it means what gives Oman its middle, it's foundation. As a working solution I've got "Oman's alte Zentralitaet", was mir aber nicht gefaellt, da es nur die Zweideutigkeit des Originals wiederholt; "Das Fundament des alten Omans" ist eine andere Idee. Hat jemand was Besseres? Vielen Dank fuer Eure Hilfe!

Wenn es um das Buch "The Reformer on the Throne" geht, meine ich schon, daß es um die geographische Lage geht. Darum habe ich den Antwort etwas zweideutig gelassen.
