Bus/Financial - Human Resources
English term or phrase: Satz
Liebe Kollegen,

5. Urgent Annual Leave Request

*Would take the numbers over those required to achieve targets.* Suggested replacement is sick and will be indefinitely.

Need to see if can replace him from elsewhere as he has already paid for it. Responsibility is his for doing so.

German translation:A couple of words missing - that's all
Explanation:
"die Anzahl Abwesenden wäre dann zu hoch..."

As TDfreelance suggests, it's badly constructed, but I think this is all that's happened: the author left out "the absentees" after "numbers". Then in a management-speak context (and language), it makes perfect sense to me. It's a style of writing I recognise well, even if I don't think much of it... In any case, if the previous part of the sentence included "the absentees", the inclusion of those words may not even have been strictly necessary.

Vielen Dank an alle! Es hätte tatsächlich "the number of absentees" heißen sollen.
