Er belohnt Teamleistungen, anstatt sie zu _____

Weder "reagieren" noch "entgegenwirken" passt hier. Mir ist das Bild dahinter noch nicht ganz klar. Vielleicht hat jemand einen passenden Vorschlag? Merci!

Explanation:
Yes, one would indeed normally address (deal with, confront)an issue. You could also expand the sentence yourself to make it more understandable, viz " Er belohnt die Leistungen des/ eines Teams, anstatt sie zu bewerten /analysieren.". I think the idea behind is that he is not critical enough, only giving blanket praise.
