Ich denke, dass hiermit gemeint ist, dass man sich nicht aus Gier auf das Hab und Gut (sprich Geld) des anderen zum Falschspiel verleiten lassen und auch anderen ihr Glück im Spiel gönnen soll...
I'd be greedy (if I were a poker player), but as is suggested below, "mind you" ("allerdings" ist das ein ganz anderes Buch!) does suggest do consider this advice even though it's from a totally different book (the bible).
The "ox" or the "ass" as mentioned in the tenth commandment can be understood as the things your co-player own/wager. So, I agree, that's a joke - that's just what you want/covet in the game - win everybody's stuff.
Das "Mind you..." steht genau so im Text. Danach kommt nichts mehr zu dieser Überschrift. Es geht dann in einem neuen Absatz noch darum, dass man beim Pokern nie den Spaß vernachlässigen soll.
bei den anderen Regeln handelt es sich um "richtige" Pokerregeln, z.B. "Post your blinds promptly", "Don’t splash the pot", "Be a good winner", "And take defeats with dignity" usw.
Kannst du vielleicht noch ein, zwei Beispiele für weitere Benimmregeln angeben, Stefanie?
