English term or phrase: shakka
"Tahiti is the southern hemisphere Hawaii.
It is crystal clear water, beautiful mountains, beautiful people.
It is **shakka** as we say in Hawaii."

"Shakka is a Babylonian and Akkadian patron god of herdsmen, probably deriving from the Sumerian god Lahar." (Quelle: www.answers.com)

Auf MySpace bin ich auf folgenden Kommentar gestoßen: "What up Druw! hows it? Kine south swells lately. Wondering how youve been. Im Coming back out in the near future.
Shakka!!!!!"

Meint wohl was anderes als "shakka together": http://talk.dyestat.com/archive/index.php/t-52154-p-418.html

Explanation:
(The shakka is the wave that most people associate with surfing/surfers. According to Erin Summerill, and a few other Hawaiian locals that I met, the "shakka" wave started with a man from Laie who worked in the Kahuku Sugar Mills, located a few miles north of Laie. This man got his index, middle and ring fingers cut off while working in the mill. After that, to wave to people he would put up his hand (that only had a thumb and a pinky) and shake it. Somehow, it caught on!) aus: http://halesangels.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html (ziemlich weit unten)
