Könnte das eine Ausdrucksweise mit Bezug zum Rennsport sein, also metaphorisch für den Wettkampf unter den Köchen? Würde also dann bedeuten, dass der gute M.W. dabei ist, seinen Mentor zu überholen, oder ihm zumindest lautstark Konkurrenz zu machen?
Wortlich 'sich brüllend am Schulter eintreffen' und so ist der Vergleich mit Rennsport gemeint, obwohl es sich natürlich um kochen geht.Im grunde genommen will es heissen das M.W, ehemaliger Lehrling, hat seinen ehemaligen Mentor überholt, und steht jetzt selbst in der Poleposition.
... ist vielleicht noch ein bisschen zu weit gegriffen (aber der Typ steht definitiv am Start). "... ist seinem Mentor dicht auf den Fersen" kommt mir in den Sinn, auch wenn es dabei eher um Fußgänger geht, oder "ist bereit, sich an Gordon Ramsay messen zu lassen".
