Man kann bei denen eine günstige Versicherung abschließen und spart dann die teure Versicherung vom Autovermieter.
Jetzt kommt öfter "excess" vor. Ich weiß, das ist Selbstbehalt, aber in diesem Fall bin ich mir unsicher, was es genau ist.

Ist man hier tätsächlich für den Selbstbehalt versichert? D.h. diese Versicherung übernimmt den Selbstbehalt?

Selbstbeteiligungsversicherung: Die meisten Kaskoversicherungen werden mit Selbstbeteiligung abgeschlossen. Dies ist ein nicht versicherter Betrag, für den der Versicherte im Falle eines reparablen Schadens an seinem Flugzeug selbst aufkommen muss. Eine Selbstbeteiligungsversicherung ist eine Art von Deckung, die das Risiko des Versicherten begrenzt und damit den Betrag reduziert, der das nicht von der Kaskoversicherung gedeckte Risiko ausmacht |

Sorry, I didn't give a full answer: an "excess" policy is one which covers payment of the "excess", if the person insured is involved in an accident.
If you look at the site below, it'll give you a fair run-down on all sorts of aspects of car insurance:

and it refers to "Selbstbeteiligungsversicherung", so I'd say your "-police" would be well understood.

Asker: Danke, das hatte ich geschrieben, dass ich das Wort Excess kenne, aber was ist das in diesem Falle? EINE VERSICHERUNG FÜR SELBSTBEHALT/SELBSTBETEILIGUNG?
Asker: Ich habe hier z.B. auch das Wort Excess Policy. Ist das dann eine Selbstbeteilungspolice?
Asker: Auf diese Seite möchte ich mich aber nicht unbedingt verlassen müssen... die scheint ziemlich mies übersetzt... wenn ich schon "Kontoeinzelheiten" für "account details" lese!
