  -> You are right it is not a German verb but very often in technical and internet terms is used to not to translate some English terms that are used in ”English” form in many other languages.

Host bleibt zwar häufig auch im Deutschen stehen, aber hier kann man es doch ruhig umschreiben. Z.B.

Das Video kann nur von der Seite abgespielt werden, auf der/deren Server es sich befindet/hochgeladen wurde.
