A more sophisticated valuation yardstick is Tobin’s Q where the replacement cost of assets is compared to the enterprise value, the combined value of equity and debt. If the returns on existing capital purchased in the stock market differ from the returns on new capital, then a mispricing exists which will be ***arbitraged away*** such that Tobin’s Q reverts to its equilibrium position of 1.

Explanation:
klar soweit, oder? es gibt ein missverhältnis zwischen den preisen an den börse und dem preis, zu dem man das was es an der börse zu kaufen gibt, neu aufbauen könnte. das merken arbitrageure und haben das mispricing auf, indem sie zb apple shorten wie die wahnsinnigen ;-) (und hoffen, dass der markt ihre meinung übernimmt bevor sie ruiniert sind)
