in einer scheidungsurkunde werden die parteien genannt, die vor gericht erschienen sind; und die antragstellerin ***appeared in person and through attorney of record***.

ich habe jetzt mal übersetzt: "erschien persönlich und wurde vertreten durch den prozessbevollmächtigten anwalt xyz" - kann das jemand bestätigen?

Explanation:
In Deutschland ist ein Rechtsanwalt entweder bestellt oder beigeordnet. Von wem oder durch welches Gericht der Anwalt hier bestellt wird, geht aus dem Satz nicht hervor. Man kann aber annehmen, dass in einem Scheidungsfall der Anwalt von der Prozesspartei selbst bestellt wird.
