Hans, ich gebe dir ja Recht, was den Terminus alleine betrifft (siehe die zwei Definitionen unten), aber im Zusammenhang des Satzes muss der Käufer Bescheid wissen, wie die Autos ausschauen, sonst hätte "requesting that the cars are in condition *as is where is* " keinen Sinn. Vielleicht äußert sich Ines mal, wie das Drumrum (gehobener: Kontext) sich anhört...?

@ Dorothea: Es steht nirgendwo, dass die Ware "besichtigt" wurde, das kann der Fall sein, muss aber nicht. As is kennzeichnet einen Zustand, where is einen Standort - mehr nicht. Wir kaufen Heizöl (bei mir inzwischen Wert eines Gebrauchtwagens) ja auch nicht "wie besichtigt".

As is where is - Commercial term that buyer shall accept delivery of goods at the same place where it lies and in the same condition as it exists at the time of inspection prior to purchase. In General Insurance this term is used mostly relating to salvage disposal transactions.
