Es ist schon klar, dass es sich hier um eine Steuernachforderung handelt - mit dem Verzug hatte ich die 90-Tage-Frist im Kopf, die damit verbunden ist und innerhalb derer der Stpfl. zahlen muss.

Das "statutory" wird ja schon durch "gemäß §..." erfasst.
Hierzu muss man wissen, dass in den USA nur eine geringe Prozentzahl aller eingereichten Steuererklärungen geprüft wird und nur durch eine solche Prüfung festgestellt wird, dass eine Nachzahlung fällig ist.
