qualification

German translation: Eigenschaft

Law/Patents - Law (general)
English term or phrase: qualification
I am unsure how to best translate "qualification" in below context:

I am translating a birth certificate - in one section it says:
INFORMANT (I translated that as "Aufkunftsgeber"), then it states the name of the informant and next to it there is a field with the titel "qualification" where it says "Mother".

It evidently hasn't got anything to do with "occupation" or the like. I'm considering to translate it as "Berechtigung" since I think it refers to the reason that entitles the informant to register the child.

Many thanks in advance!
