The *Public At Large* is a defendant.
I am not a specialist on the field of law and there are hardly any goggle hits.
Can somebody help? Thanks in advance!

Explanation:
In English legal parlance we'd usually say "the People", as in "The People versus John Doe". The German equivalent is, of course, "das Volk": oben bei Gerichtsurteilen steht oft "Im Namen des Volkes"

Der Ausdruck bezieht sich nach meiner Meinung auf die gesamte Bevölkerung bzw. auf die Allgemeinheit. Im Englischen werden für *public at large* die Ausdrücke "general public" oder "entire public" verwendet.
