English to German translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Law (general) / Correspondence
English term or phrase:delusional
Context (yes, this is really how it is written):
"As for Mr. X's allegations that I gave him a verbal twenty years ago, Mr. X is delusional, we have only been incorporated since 1994. I met Mr. X one time only in Dusseldorf in the spring of 2000."
By "a verbal," the author means the verbal permission to be the sole distributor of her (the author's) products.
It doesn't necessarily have to be politically correct or euphemistic, but I am not sure if "wahnsinnig" fits. What do you think (discussions and comments are welcome in English or German)?
Thanks, Jonathan (and ibz), I ended up going with "sich irren." (Note: I entered that in the glossary, not your first suggestion.) I already got the feedback from this project and my client was pleased. Thanks again! :) 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
I would chose "irren" as this is the most neutral even in legal terms. "ist verrückt" might become problematic in court as someone might argue with with the criminal offence of Beleidigung! "Irren" came into my mind as soon as I read the question!
Explanation: perhaps a bit weak, but steers clear of overly insulting language
