From your context ("loss of confidential information...") , it looks like this might refer to loss of privacy in the context of data protection etc.

In this context, Verletzung der Privatsphäre would be incorrect as would Verlust des Privatlebens. A search on "Verlust der Privatsphäre" will yield some 1,700 or so hits. See some of the URLs below:
