Ok, I think this is "production animal" medicine which I would view as a subspecialty of veterinary medicine. Here I think they are talking cows, horses, etc., whereas veterinary medicine would include cats and dogs.

Asker: Jepp, genau so hab' ich's auch übersetzt. War mir aber gar nicht sicher, weil der Gutste hier ein Diplom hat, da einen Lehrstuhl usw., kam mir das etwas banal vor.
