English to German translations [PRO]

Correct translation of the titles given above, also I don't know what's up with the attitude of finding it unnecessary or maybe rather too troublesome to translate terms like these into another language especially if this language is evolved enough to have exact equivalents to the sourcetext.Furthermore if your text is meant to be read by a German person, it is in no way guaranteed that this person understands enough English to be able to translate these titles him/herself even if he/she are of a younger generation or at a higher level of employment,so it's probably worth it to show some more effort for the client. |

| Grading comment Thank you for your comments. That is exactly the way I feel. What I did not mention in my request for help was that the German translation is put on the back of the business card, with the English text already being on the front.
Also, I could not possibly return the translation job to my client saying that the English title should stay in English, regardless if it goes to Germany or not.
Your comment that many German business people do not understand English well enough to understand or translate these titles themselves and may even cause confusion.

My personal feeling (and preference) is that job titles should not be translated. The one you cite would be a good case in point, especially since Global Accounts and Engineering Worldwide appear to be somewhat divergent areas.
If you feel you must translate the title, I'd agree with Charlie to leave at least the department names in English; you might use Direktor or Leiter, so it would be "Direktor (or Leiter), Global Accounts", and "Direktor (or Leiter), Engineering Worldwide".
