Es geht hier um das Nachschleifen von Elektroden, insbesondere von Elektrodenpaaren mit einem tragbaren Fräser/Schleifer.

Electrode cap milling devices are intended solely for machining electrodes similar to ISO 5821 (CuCrZr). A pair of electrodes will be dressed to optimum condition "by closing the weld gun onto the machine’s rotating cutter tool".

Der Ausdruck "to close sth onto sth." bereitet mir hier Schwierigkeiten. Spontan würde mir sowas einfallen wie "in Kontakt miteinander bringen", aber ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob das exakt das trifft was man hiermit ausdrücken möchte.
