Es geht um die Verbesserung von Arbeits- und Produktionsprozessen, bzw. die Abschaffung von nicht-wertschöpfenden Maßnahmen. (Lean-Method)

"Transportation does not add any value to the product. Instead of improving the transportation, it should be minimized or eliminated (e.g. **forming cells**)."

Ich bin mir ziemlich unsicher, was der Autor hier meint. Any help? Vielen Dank im Voraus!

Explanation:
eine umfassendere Variante. Vielleicht nicht unbedingt für diesen Fall, aber für weitere Kontexte.

auch: Produktionsstätten/-center (mehr und näher am Markt), um Transportkosten zu verringern. (= Toyota in den USA)

Um die Produktionskosten zu reduzieren, hilft es, mehr, kleinere, autonome Produktionszellen/-stätten zu bilden, um dann kleinere Lagerstätten führen zu müssen und zugleich schnellere Lieferungen zu ermöglichen. Das beginnt mit besserem Layout für die einzelnen Produktionszellen/prozesse
