Hallo!
Von Schleifmitteln weiß ich so viel wie ein Stein von Jonglieren. Jetzt habe ich hier ein "red abrasive pad", das als Alternative zu P320-Schleifpapier bei der Vorbehandlung zum Verkleben von Karosseriepassflächen genannt wird.
Auf Englisch scheint das eine übliche Bezeichnung zu sein. Bei Wikipedia (und nur dort) gibt es einen Polierrotkuchen, den ich ein Bisschen im Verdacht habe, außerdem soll Robinkorund rot sein (-: aber eine ernsthafte Idee, was damit gemeint ist, habe ich nicht.

Vielen Dank Euch beiden. Manchmal sieht man eben den Wald vor lauter Bäumen nicht.
Wolfheart kann ich für die erste, gute und von mir auch verstandene Antwort leider keine Punkte geben, um im Glossareintrag die Sprachen nicht durcheinander zu bringen.
