Evaluate extent of damage and establish perimeter of patch.
Including all areas of physically damaged
coating, all debonding due to mechanical stress (impact, gouging).
Remove all chemicals, grease or other contaminants.
Trim edges of damaged area using a razor knife or other sharp instrument.
Be sure to remove all
damaged coating leaving a clean edge free of trimmings between the substrate and coating.
"Feather trimmed edges to give a generous scope to patch.
Remove rust and any residue from trimmed and feathered hole by sanding or brushing with steel wool.
Using a hot air gun set at approximately 500°C, fitted with a fish tail nozzle.
Begin to fuse the
Fluoropolymer patching film (approx 0.5mm thick).
Using a rubber covered roller to exert pressure on the patch, fuse the film to the base of the feathered edge on the existing coating.
