Vielen Dank für die Bestätigung. Inzwischen habe ich herausgefunden, dass das Wort aus dem Französischen stammt und in der Tat "Sprichwort" bedeutet. Und da in dem Quelltext ein Tippfehler war, nämlich statt eines Doppelpunktes ein Punkt stand, habe ich auch gleich den Satz dazu, den der Mann gesagt hat.
