Explanation:
Bei einem Barometer ist die Einheit mmHg nicht unüblich, daher würde ich vermutlich die Zoll Quecksilbersäule in mm Quecksilbersäule umrechnen, anstatt die Angabe wegzulassen.

Hmmmm, wenn ich mir deine anderen Fragen ansehe, denke ich eher in Richtung Fliegeruhr als Barometer (Gruß vom K. Ontext :)). Sollte dies der Fall sein, würde ich eher dahin tendieren, die inHg stehen zu lassen. Anders formuliert: Weglassen auf keinen Fall, und umrechnen (×25,4) je nach Kontext.

agree  jccantrell: While this is correct, don't you Euro guys express pressure in bar or some such metric unit? But here, with both, I would leave it as inches of mercury as the author apparently wanted to put both.

i don't understand why those measures should be omitted at all. pls. see my link and look under "Hoehenmessermodus". you'll find both measures. hope this helps.

neutral  Hans G. Liepert: unless it's displayed in inch leave it out - no German can explain you how much an inch is, since Germany had the metrification before 1900 / Inch is displayed because it is an Asian product used for the US market as well, not because Germans use inch

  -> even the german link i put there has inHg next to mbar. why should we take the liberty to leave it out when even the german texts keep it?

agree  xxxhazmatgerman: Angabe einfach so übernehmen und ggf. umgerechnet in hektopascal erläutern, da "zugesicherte Eigenschaft" beim Umrechnen jur. Probleme bereiten kann. "mmHg" sind keine gesetzliche Einheit in D mehr.

neutral  Hans G. Liepert: wer rechnet in D/A/CH inch um oder verwendet Hektopascal - die Wirklichkeit liegt doch etwas anders, einfach mal an den Tankwart fragen, er möge die Reifen auf X Hektopascal oder inHG aufpumpen!
