Eigentlich ist heartwood ja Kernholz. Aber ich kann ja schlecht "Kernholzkern" schreiben. Und Hartholzkern bringt auch nicht so viele Treffer.
Kontext:
Lyptus is harder (1.474 lbs) than Oak, Walnut and Birch, with a large heartwood core, and good machining and turning properties

Ein kriterium für Holz ist der kernholzanteil, d.h. wieviel des Holzes gut als Kernholz verwertbar ist.... deswegen finde ich ist hier der Ausdruck 'Anteil 'vertretbar.
