| English term or phrase: two-sided superiority t-test | The sample size calculation is based on a two-sided superiority t-test with a test level of = 0.05. The hypothesis will be tested by calculating the two-sided parametric 95%-confidence interval for the difference IEFPP Cell – IEFPP Placebo. If this confidence interval lies completely below 0, superiority can be concluded. In order to achieve a power of 90% to detect a difference of 3.6 with a common standard deviation of 6, the following number of patients per group is required:
• CI1 (low cell count): 70 (60 evaluable) patients
• CI2 (high cell count): 70 (60 evaluable) patients
• C1 (XXX-placebo): 70 (60 evaluable) patients
• C2 (XXX): 35 (30 evaluable) patients |
