Aus der Beschreibung einer statistischen Analyse. Der vollständige Satz lautet: "For categorical data, group comparison will be performed by Chi-square provided that normal function approximation is reasonable, otherwise Fisher's exact test will be performed.

Da steige ich leider aus - irgendwelche Statistiker die helfen könnten? TIA

In der Mathematik stellt die normal function eine bestimmte Funktion dar, und sollte in der Übersetzung nicht getrennt werden. Eine wörtliche Übersetzung ist hier nicht optimal.
Was gemeint ist, ist wohl die Normalapproximation. (Sagt mein sehr schlauer Mathematikerbruder ;-)).

Asker: Danke vorerst mal für deine Hilfe! Die Frage stellt sich nun bei mir, ob es sich um eine Annäherung an die Normalfunktion handelt oder um eine, wie du sagst, normale Funktionsnäherung. Soviel ich weiß, spricht man beim Chi-Quadrat-Test von Normalverteilungen.
