Bei der Beschreibung des Zubehörs zur Hanfzucht stehe ich hilflos vor folgender Beschreibung, nämlich:

This smart Dutch grower found that training a fan on ***ballasts*** kept them running quieter and cooler.
An extraction fan above the transformers removes hot air.

Asker: Hallo, Erika! Vielen Dank erstmal. "Vorschaltgerät" hatte ich als mögliche Übersetzung schon gefunden und in Betracht gezogen, aber damit verstehe ich den Satz nicht mehr, und zwar entgeht mir insbesondere, wie der Plural da funktionieren soll. ...training a fan on ballasts kept THEM running quieter and cooler. Der Anschluss von Vorschaltgeräten sorgt dafür, dass SIE ruhiger laufen und sich weniger erhitzen? Ich hätte es verstanden, wenn da ein Singular gestanden hätte, den ich auf "fan" hätte beziehen können. Mache ich einen Denkfehler? Und wo?
