English term or phrase: self clinching fastener
Werte Kollegen,

Context:

Self Clinching Fasteners provide strong load bearing male or female threads in thin Steel and Aluminium panels.

Installation is neat and easy, simply locate the fastener into a punched or drilled hole and apply a parallel squeezing force to embed the fastener into the panel.

Self Clinching Fasteners work by utilizing a clinch ring which, when embedded into the panel is filled with metal by a cold flow process, thus effectively locking the fastener into the panel. The very nature of the clinch process gives high torque out and push out performance.

Self Clinching fasteners require a parallel squeezing force to be applied for successful installation. Equally important is the length of time the force is applied. Sufficient time must be allowed for the cold-flow clinching process to work (this is often referred to as the dwell time when installing on a hydraulic press).

Self Clinching fasteners CANNOT be installed with a hammer blow as the force would only be applied for about a 100th of a second which is insufficient for the cold flow process to work.

If you require help with your application please contact our technical department and we will do our best to come up with a solution for you.

Asker: I think this is not the kind of fastener that can be used with the machine at hand...

selbstnietendes Befestigungselement

Explanation:
Thanks for giving the full product description.
The role of these self-clinching fasteners, that is offering a threaded or straight passage through a plate with higher performances than those offered by the plate material, has been filled in for a very long time by products called inserts (in German Einsätze or Einlagen). But these were hammered in, hence the precise indication about the use of these different products. But basically they are rivets with a through hole.
To clinch is also to "niet".
So selbstnietend could be possible and that would draw the attention on the fact that these are no mere standard self fixing fasteners.
Selbstnietend does exist as an Internet search shows. One example below
4.KerbKonus
... Mutter/Abstandsbuchse, selbstnietend Clifa-M USPress-in nut, self-clinching D Einpress-Mutter, selbstnietend Clifa-P USPress-in nut, self-clinching D Einpress-Mutter, selbstnietend Clifa ...
www.cadenas.co.uk/catalog_pdf/kerb_konus.pdf - [cache] - Bing
In the catalogue of this manufacturer, these are inserts with an outside thread and a straight passage

Asker: Hi! Thanks four your explanation. However, I disagree that "clinching" ="nieten". See also Wikipedia: "Clinching is a mechanical fastening method to join sheet metal without additional components using special tools to plastically form a mechanical interlock between the sheet metals". In the issue at hand, additional components are used and it's not about joining two metal sheets.
