Es handelt sich um Sicherheitsunterlagen für die Bedienung eines Krans.

Bei dem Begriff "load block" bin ich mir nicht ganz sicher, um was es sich handelt. Hier ein paar Beispielsätze:

"The single most important safety device on the crane is the upper limit switch. The upper limit switch stops the upward travel of the hoist and prevents the *load block* from contacting the upper block, drum, or hoist."
"*Load Block* Condition: Visually inspect sheaves for signs of wear, cracks, or other damage."

Die Sätze an sich sind soweit klar. Übersetze ich load block nun einfach mit Anschlaghaken, oder Lastblock? Hat dieser load block eine Scheibe oder eine Seilrolle (sheave)? Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich das richtig verstanden habe. Wer kann mir hier weiterhelfen? - Vielen Dank!

Explanation:
Das ist gewissermaßen ein Flaschenzug mit oberer und unterer Rolle, über die die Seile laufen.

oft wird dieser load block auch bottom block genannt

wahrscheinlich ja (die obere Rolle des Flaschenzuges), ich kenne bei "meinen" Kranen eigentlich nur die Bezeichnung "bottom block".

Explanation:
Wenn man die Abbildung von DERDOKTor mit dem PNS-Bildwörterbuch, Seite 634, vergleicht, wird er obere Teil mit den Rollen "hoisting block" = "Hubwinde" genannt.
Darunter angeordent ist der "hook" = "Haken".

Asker: Das ist sehr aufschlussreich! Was ist denn dann ein "upper block", einfach der Teil, wo die obere Rolle läuft?

Explanation:
Für den Fall des Seil-Flaschenzuges hier noch als Alternative das schon in meinem agree zu Sybille (mit link) genannte. Upper Block wäre dann die obere Umlenkrolle.
Andererseits findet man für upper block auch "oberer Block", wenn klar ist, wovon die Rede ist.
