Noch ein Fachausdruck im Bereich Kranwesen:
Es geht nach wie vor um die verschiedenen Sicherheitsvorschriften etc., die beim Einsatz von Kranen beachtet werden müssen. Mir ist der Unterschied zwischen "crane pads" und "crane mats" nicht ganz klar. Zum Beispiel in den Sätzen:

"An engineer shall check the crane operator has valid data on soil capability to withstand intended loads applied by crane. Soil compaction test may be required if valid data is not available. It may be necessary to reinforce an area of ground with a *crane pad* during heavy lifts. If ground conditions require it, *crane mats* shall be used to spread the load over a larger footprint."

crane mats = Kranmatten?
crane pads = Stützplatten für Krane? - Auf der anderen Seite verbinde ich mit dem Wort "pad" eher etwas "Weiches, Softes".
