English term or phrase: camera strobes
If you understand how light is captured on film, it’ll be a cinch to demonstrate how the effect of ‘floating orbs’ can be produced at night. Since film (and digital sensors for that matter) essentially only record visible light, dark moving objects are usually rendered invisible and this can be used to great effect to fool the eye. Flashlights, paper cutouts, lanterns and ***camera strobes*** are just some of the items needed, along with a willing accomplice in dark clothing. Remember to use a camera mounted on a sturdy tripod, since long exposure times are needed to get the right effect.

Es geht darum, Geistererscheinungen usw. nachzustellen.

blitzlicht(er)

Explanation:
While I fully agree with Kristina's explanation I would prefer the simpler Blitzlicht here. It might or might not be used in stroboscope mode.
