In a conventional cardiopulmonary bypass circuit, the oxygenator is placed as shown in fig. 1, namely downstream of the venous reservoir and upstream of the arterial pump, which is itself upstream of the bubble detector.
The figure shows the reservoir, the pump and the oxygenator linked by a black line
cardiopulmonary bypass = kardiopulmonaler Bypass, but what does the circuit bit refer to?
