After some reflection and googling I would forget about -hoffnung and -erwachen.

IMO HOPEs ewiger Frühling? reflects the writers hint at HOPE still being in its infancy. HTH

Explanation:
Das Wort "spring" scheint kein Substantiv zu sein, wie Uschi Walke annimmt, sondern eher ein Verb. Was sollte sonst das Hilfsverb "to do" für einen Sinn machen? Wörtlich übersetzt wäre es "Kann die Hoffnung ewig springen?". Vielleicht findet so noch jemand anders einen treffenderen Ausdruck!
