English term or phrase: coupler (here)
The XYZ 000 Coupler is intended to be used to create a coronary anastomosis of the left internal mammary artery (LIMA) to the left anterior descending artery (LAD) in coronary artery bypass graft surgery for patients with coronary artery disease

this is used over and over in my text. I just want to make sure I am using an appropriate term. My suggestion is "Verbindungsstueck" - what do the experts think?

Interponat
Explanation:
According to your notes it seems like this device is a graft used to create an anastomosis between the LIMA and the LAD. Generally, if the LIMA of the patient is too short, veins of this patient are used to make it long enough to fit on the LAD. If no veins are available artificial grafts ("Interponate") can be used, some are tissue engineered with an endothelial layer to improve their bio-compability. Maybe your coupler is a device like this and I would suggest to translate it as "Interponat".

thank you very much for your explanation. This possibility certainly sounds feasible, although I have already submitted my translation a while ago.
