Anterior restoration: Use the conventional acid etching, prepare cavity for all Class III, Class IV, and Class V restoration.
Posterior restoration: Prepare the cavity. No residual amalgam or other base material should be left on the internal surfaces of preparation that would interfere with light transmission and therefore, the hardening of the restorative material. |

Explanation:
Composite werden heute in der Regel unter Verwendung der Säureätztechnik (SÄT) in die Kavität ("Loch") eingebracht. Bei der Säureätztechnik wird Säure auf den Zahnschmelz und auf das Dentin (Zahnbein) aufgetragen. Durch das Anätzen wird die Oberfläche des Zahnes aufgerauht und damit sehr stark vergrößert, dadurch verbessert sich die Haftung des Kunststoffes erheblich.
