The English term is carbid*e* (a very hard material used for the cutting edges of tools).

Danke, John und MMUlr. Ich konnte leider unter Google nix über Fräsen mit Nuten oder Kerben finden. Morgen will ich mal beim Kunden anfragen und den Eintrag ggf. korrigieren.

agree  MMUlr: oder in der Zahnmedizin eher -> Hartmetallbohrer ("fluted bur" auch = Spiralbohrer) ... mit 16 Nuten / Spannuten

  -> Danke. Habe eben mit meiner Zahnärztin gesprochen: Fräsen haben Nuten, während 'Bohrer' eher einen abgerundeten Kopf und eine raue Oberfläche haben. (bur mit einem 'r' ist die US-Schreibweise)
