Boiling Water: Boil a pan of water approximately 4” in depth so the tray will be immersed keeping the tab above the water. After the water has come to the boil, remove the water from the heat and place the tray in the hot water, but not boiling water. Leave in water for 5 seconds.
Fitting the tray: Lift the tray from the water using the tab: the water will run off. Carefully and quickly place the tray around the teeth and push with your fingers on both sides of the tray whilst sucking the air out. The tray will be warm but will not burn the tissue in the mouth. You can repeat this procedure several times to achieve the best fit. After the tray is fitted, you may cut off the tab with small scissors to facilitate treatment with closed mouth. Note: if you take small scissors and trim your tray on the gingival line (teeth/gum line) this will allow the gel to only be on your teeth. This will avoid any soft tissue irritation. 2. You should be able to treat teeth in the tray with only a ¼ cc of gel, so there is no waste.
