English term or phrase: direct inlay / indirect inlay
Hallo allerseits,

bei dem Text handelt es sich um Schulungsmaterial für die Mitarbeiter eines Pharmakonzerns. In diesem Abschnitt geht es um Zahnmedizin.

Direct Inlays and Onlays
Direct inlays and onlays are created in the dental office and can be placed in one visit. There are a range of materials that can be used to create inlays and onlays, which you will learn about in the following pages. The process for placing inlays and onlays will vary depending on the restoration material chosen. In the case of composite resin, the resin is moulded to fit the tooth and then removed and hardened in a specialised oven. Once hardened, the inlay or onlay is removed and cemented into place on the tooth. The dentist will also polish the restoration and may need to shape it slightly to ensure that the teeth come together properly.

Indirect Inlays and Onlays
Indirect inlays and onlays are made in a dental laboratory and require two visits. In the first visit, an impression of the remaining portion of the tooth is taken and then sent to a laboratory.

Wie nennet man „direct inlays“ bzw. „indirect inlays“ im Deutschen?

Vielen Dank!
