Unter dem Begriff „relining“ (=Unterfütterung) versteht man das Verfahren der Unterfütterung, welches eine mangelhaft sitzende Prothese durch Auftragen von Kunststoff auf die alte Prothesenunterseite wieder dem Kiefer anpasst. Von „rebasing“ (=Umpressung) spricht man, wenn das gesamte Material des alten Prothesenkörpers unter Belassung der Zahnaufstellung (Zahnreihen) durch neues Material ersetzt wird (Geering 1997, Müller § Hupfauf 1991, Bailey1962).
