Satz:
"Perform upper airway irrigation on a daily basis, or more frequently if subglottic aspirates are offensive."

Es geht darum, dass bei einem intubierten Patienten der subglottische Raum mit Kochsalzlösung gespült werden muss, um ihn von Flüssigkeiten und Ablagerungen zu befreien. Aber was sind hier "aspirates" aspiriertes/angeatmetes Material? Aspirat(e)?

neutral  Harald Moelzer (medical-translator): In diesem Kontext selten - für "subglottisches Aspirat" gibt es praktisch keine Referenzen

  -> Es ist beides ok. Dass es als "subglottisches Aspirat" selten vorkommt, liegt auch daran, dass sublottisch kein so wahnsinnig geläufiger Begriff ist. Eine Frage des Geschmacks, welchen Ausdruck man verwendet.
