English to German translations [PRO] Medical - Medical: Instruments / surgery | | English term or phrase: stitch sinus | Fast absorbing sutures, like Caprosyn, can helps reduce suture related problems such as knot spitting (also called stitch spitting, or suture extrusion).
Because these sutures are essentially absorbed before these problems usually start.
However
Fast absorbing sutures may not provide sufficient support to the wound).
So, it is possible, as these sutures lose their tensile strength the opposing forces on the wound edge can result in spreading scars or even dehiscence.
Long term absorbable sutures provide maximum wound support and added security against spreading scars, and dehiscence, but…
But
Slow absorption can lead to the formation of stitch sinus, granulation tissue, infection and knot spitting. |

| Reference: stitch sinus, suture sinus
A study of Stitch sinus (post operative) among people who take Remicade. The study is created by eHealthMe based on reports from FDA and user community.

Patients and Methods: A series of 100 patients presenting in the General Surgical OPD and requiring midline laparotomy were studied. In group “A” all the midline abdominal wounds were closed with Prolene 1 and in group “B” PDS 1 was used. In both the groups the data was collected, based on post-operative wound complications including post-operative wound pain, wound infection, wound dehiscence, suture sinus formation, stitch granuloma and incisional hernia.

Other less common postoperative complications included postoperative bleeding (2, 1.4%), seroma formation (2, 1.4%), stitch sinus (1, 0.7%) and wound infection (1, 0.7%).

Leider liefern meine Fachwörterbücher auch für "sutre sinuns" keine Erklärung oder Übersetzung.
Auf jeden Fall schient es sich um eine Art Abzess (Höhlenbildung zu handeln).
